Fitzwilliam Hotel, Dublin, Friday Evening
Stark had been distracted all through his class and up until it was time to catch the portal to Dublin. But class had been fine, there had been no nonsense with any phone messages today, and now he and Summer were in a hotel room in Dublin that Stark had researched and booked himself and managed, somehow, not to spoil any surprises. It had been difficult but somehow he'd restrained himself.
He had opened up his bag and was unpacking. He held up a shirt, metallic black. "This will work for tonight, I think. For when we go out?"
No, he hadn't told her where they were going yet. He was waiting for that reveal. He was very proud of the destination he'd found for the evening, after the whiskey tasting.
"I couldn't ask my stylist for her opinion ahead of time. But I think it works."

This whole letting other people play all your birthday shit was great. 10 out of 10. No notes.
She lingered there a moment longer before she grinned, cracking open an eye and looking ag Stark before opening both and pushing herself up on her elbows. Her head tilted, considering the shirt in question judiciously.
"Well, I don't know," she said, grinning broadly. "Guess that depends on where we're going out to, doesn't it?"
no subject
He was so pleased with himself.
"Unless you're tired of clubs after yesterday?"
He sat down on the edge of the bed, laying the shirt down next to him.

Those had all been bars last night, anyway! Totally different. And very different vibes with the company, especially, being made very obvious as Summer turned toward Stark to put a hand gently on his chest and lean in to show her approval with a very appreciative kiss.
It was a while, before she pulled back from it, but when she did, she was grinning, and reaching over to feel the fabric of the shirt.
"Very nice," she complimented. "Did you bring your black mask to match it, too?"
no subject
Stark reached over to capture her hand in his.
"But only because of where we're going. It's called Copper Face Jack's."
He grinned at her, reaching for his phone to show her the site for the club.
"I was researching and I saw the name..."
no subject
But by the grin on her face as she did, he could probably tell he'd done pretty well there.
"Amazing. I mean, do you have a copper one? I mean, I'm sure what you have is definitely close enough, but, you know. Do you think you could get away with pretending you're thr guy they named it after? The Copper Face Jack? Maybe we could score free drinks!"
no subject
That hadn't occurred to him until just that moment. A pity.
"But I think they'll know I'm not the one it's named after. He died a long time ago. But they might appreciate the mask all the same? I hope they do."
He paused, looked over at her and leaned in for a kiss. Soft but thorough.
"As long as you like it. That's what matters. It's all for your birthday."

He always did.
"I think I got it right. And the whiskey to start."
Just in case he hadn't gotten it right after all and pregaming turned out to have been necessary.
"And more things tomorrow. Of course. I could tell you now or you could have more surprises. Which would you like?"
no subject
"And more surprises," she said. "I like surprises. I'm really excited to see what you've got planned."
no subject
"And I know you like surprises. I wanted to tell you about the club as soon as I found it but I didn't want to ruin the surprise. It's been hard not telling you about all of the things I've found."
He wanted to tell her everything, most of the time. She was his favorite person.
no subject
"Are we coming back here after the whiskey tour?" she then wondered, starting to feel the excitement that was to make it hard for her to just linger here in the hotel for too much longer. "Or straight to the club afterwards?"
no subject
"I thought we would stay out, unless you want to wear something different to the club than to the distillery? We can come back if you like. I don't mind."
Of course they did run the risk, then, of not making it out back out of the room.
"It is your birthday. Still."
no subject
"I feel like whiskey clothes and club clothes are very different outfits," Summer noted. "But I could totally roll up to the distillery in sequins if I have to."
With all the surprises on the agenda, she came prepared for pretty much anything, but was feeling particularly glad that she actually was going to have a good excuse to pull out a particular one.
no subject
"You'll look wonderful no matter what you're wearing," Stark assured her in a totally unbiased fashion. "But we can come back for you to change. There's plenty of time. It's open late, the club. I checked."
He was going to love that dress. A lot.
no subject
"Let's do that, then," said said with a nod. "I'd like that, coming back to change, so I can really look the best for the club."
no subject
"Very good plan," he said. "Do you need to change now, too? You look good. You always look good. Should I wear something different now or put the shirt on?"
He'd picked out the shirt for the club but he thought it would be fine for drinking whiskey as well.
"Or if you're too tired from yesterday we could skip the whiskey. But there's plenty of time to sleep later. We don't have anything to do early tomorrow. I promise."
He wouldn't do that to her! Definitely not on a birthday trip.
