Fandom Radio - Sunday (7/6)

Seriously, I have to report on this? It's just about what happened with me and Steve.

*chittering*

Ravenous paparazzi. The lot of you. Fine. Steve and I were on our way to adopt a dog and he turned into a dog. It was very ironic. Oh! another note! Okay, now there is news. Luma had an unhappy time at the Perk, but hopefully she's feeling better now. But, if you'll excuse me, there's brunch.

Try not to turn into animals, everyone.

Over Easy, Sunday

Hey, guess what, Fandom? There was a new restaurant in town!

No, not the Waffle House, although hopefully it would come around again soon. Raiden would never regret the competition.

This was Over Easy, a breakfast and brunch spot where Goodvalor's Little Bivoli used to be, open from 7-3 seven days a week and offering all your breakfast and brunch favorites (plus bottomless brunch cocktails on the weekends)! And today there was a giant OPEN NOW sign out front, plus balloons, while inside a jazz band had been hired to make their grand opening celebration a jazz brunch.

And Raiden was here, too, of course, giving last minute instructions and worrying, "Do we have enough eggs? I know how many eggs we have. I know it's a lot of eggs. But is it enough?"

Specials
Crab Cake Benedict
Bananas Foster French Toast
Cheesecake Stuffed Waffles with Berry Syrup

For the first time, Over Easy was open, and a discreet sign in the window proclaimed Now Hiring!

A Secluded Beachfront Near Gundari Resort, Folegandros, Greece, Sunday Afternoon

Deciding to elope had answered so many problems. But it did not remove the need for hurried preparation.

Fortunately the staff at their hotel were old hands at quickly throwing events together. Eloping, omg! )

Once the ceremony was all done there was a daze of thanking everyone, making sure everything that needed to be taken care of was taken care of, and then heading back to their hotel.

For their honeymoon.

It was probably going to take a while for both Watts and Steven to get used to that.

The Perk;.Saturday Afternoon [07/05].

Luma's search of the island for a Boc-scented tree had turned up futile, which made her equal parts frustrated and sad, especially since, when she told Eleanor, her sister was just sort of apathetic about ot all, saying that sometimes around here, people just did that, leaving unexpectedly. She'd had it happen before, with classmates, roommates, friends...

But Luma had never dealt with loss well. She'd always had so little, and yet still had lost so much. Arthur, Rhys, her father, grandparents, even Eleanor (especially Eleanor)...so while she and Boc hadn't been all that really close, it still felt like a deep cut, leaving her feeling....anxious. And angry. Inconsolable. All sorts of things she never really learned how to handle well.

The forlorn howling late a night from the woods, then, could be traced back to her, and she'd slept in late, only to drag herself out for at least one modern thing the island had to offer her to make her feel a little bit better, even if momentarily: a big blended mocha frappicinno from the Perk, and a big sticky cinnamon roll to go along with it.

It was only helping marginally, but it would just have to do, for now.

It was time for Danny and Steve's six-week check-up at Tripler, and Steve was desperately hoping to be told he was allowed to go back to his regular exercise routine (which he'd done already, but details). He was less thrilled that after the check-up he had to turn his active duty military ID in and swap it for a retiree one.

Retirees were old. Vietnam vets. Maybe Korea. Not him, okay, he wasn't even 40. He was so busy stewing about the indignity of it all that he didn't notice his long-legged righteous-but-leaving-Danny-behind stride had turned much shorter.

Shorter and furrier.

Well, they had a plan to go looking for another dog because they were definitely becoming That Couple. But also, they had the space and the inclination for it. So. Dog.

And that was the plan, but the island would clearly have other things in mind.

"We'll take my car, right?" Tony asked like it was any better for a dog than Steve's motorcycle. It was only in the vaguest sense better.

Fandom Radio, Thursday 7/4

*chittering*

No, you could have left me there. I was very comfortable where I was.

*snickering*

Oh, shut up. I would have come in here eventually. I’m allowed to sleep later sometimes. Especially if I’ve had a late night. You did not need to come downstairs to get me out of her bed!

*chittering*

It’s a complicated situation. Hush. Let’s just get on with it, please. Nothing from the school and nothing from the dorms but a couple of notes from the town and of course Steve’s birthday party.

Liz was at the Photo Hut working on spreadsheets and paperwork. Luma was at Pixie Dust wondering about Boc’s absence. I hope he’s all right.

And then the party which had plenty of food and drinks, of course and Steve had a bit of everything and reminded Tony he needed to eat too and that he was going to put so many things in the chocolate fountain. There was also dancing, and fireworks that weren’t really fireworks because they were drones, and then there were the guests.

Summer had a very nice firework dress and Tony told her she’d started a party trend and that Steve had to be convinced to have a party and they discussed his birthday next year. Steve was happy to see her and told her how I was doing radio today so they discussed jello so I had something to talk about. Thank you? Maybe? And I admired Summer’s dress and she liked my shirt and I asked her to dance.

Kitty was dressed in blue and she and Steve discussed how old Steve is and he isn’t sure but 30-something. I’m not sure either. Tony was pleased that Kitty was there and admiring his chandeliers.

Liliana had a new outfit, a suit, and Tony joked about the two of them running away together and…things that likely don’t need to be repeated on here. Steve surprised her with a hug and they also talked about Steve’s confusing age. I complimented her suit and we discussed upcoming classes. Don was also appreciative of her new outfit though somewhat formal about it.

I had a new shirt and Steve and I discussed the importance of cake and pie. But Tony may have cursed the island. If something happens soon it’s his fault. Remember that.

Ignis was there with Liliana who was describing the chandeliers and outfits for him. Tony and Ignis discussed differences in holidays and Steve and Ignis talked about birthdays coinciding with holidays.

Don arrived, discussed age confusion, and Don sang to him. Tony may have encouraged another song from Don.

Miss Lydia Bennet was there in a red evening gown and Steve encouraged her to see some fireworks tonight. Tony was glad to see her without any drunken squirrels demanding they perform for them. I understand this feeling. I could still be in bed…

Right. Nevermind. Raiden brought Gray with him but Gray was asleep. Steve pointed out a place to let Gray sleep and that there was a burger bar while Tony offered to get pillows and save some food.

After Don had left Thor arrived to wish Steve a happy birthday and to discuss eating all the desserts and Tony told him he was just in time to help transport the cake. Hopefully he got to eat some as well.

That’s all from the party and from Thursday at all.

*chittering*

No, I don’t need to tell anyone what I was doing after the party and neither do you. Hush.

I imagine I will be back to doing this on Wednesday again next week. Probably. Who knows. Until then, be careful of exploding things today and enjoy the holiday if it is one that you celebrate.

Event: LAUNDRY STRIKE

Hello, Fandom! Are you feeling nice and secure on your weirdness-free island? Well, too bad. Because from Monday, July 7th, through Friday, July 11th, Fandom is experiencing a LAUNDRY STRIKE.

That means that none of the washers or dryers will work all week - while temperatures rise and the amount of Clothing Incidents (tm) increase rapidly. Yes, there will be random mud pools around the island, and flocks of birds with GI problems, and - of course - the pizza is extra drippy this week.

And just to improve everyone's tempers, Friday night will see an island-wide fire drill. (Posted in the AM on Friday, so everyone can play all day.) Hope you still have some decent PJs left, everyone.

Lana's Alderaan, Thursday Evening

People'd be less impressed by the thrantas if they knew how karking stupid they were. Yeah, Jack had flown one once or twice as a kid; it was hard to grow up on this planet without it. But he viscerally remembered the stupid look in the thing's eyes, the way it would get distracted.

And his dad, grumbling about the wasted money the day after. Sitting in a chair at the medcenter, waiting for the kolto patches to be removed from Jaq's arms.

It'd been a long day out here. There wasn't much left of the town he'd grown up in. It'd been relentlessly renovated, older buildings removed and replaced with new, prettier ornate synthstone. If he had to take a guess, he assumed the people he'd grown up with had been priced out of the neighborhood.

Sorry, 'moved to more suitable housing'. It was Alderaan, after all.

And then they'd headed out, towards the mountains, a little more like the hiking trips they took back on Earth. But the mountains were taller and more majestic, and every once in a while, a thranta herd would come out from behind a snowy peak, and fly past the sun, and the sunlight would reflect on its wings, and Jack-- well, Jack wanted to grab a pebble and throw it out there with the Force. See if he could nail one.

But he wasn't the only one there, and he knew it was an immature reflex. )

WTFH - Fandom Radio [Thurs, July 3rd]

No.

*chittering*

We've had this discussion before.

*chittering*

It's not 'totally different' if you're 'just storing them'. No fireworks inside the station. If you really want to explode yourselves, do it outside. After you give me the notes.

Let's see, no classes of any kind up at the School, though it was a beach day in the Library, much to Cal and Gray's confusion when they came by to visit Arden.

The Dorms were quiet. Again. While in Town, Adrian was convinced he was being watched at Pick Your Poison, I'd suggest it was paranoia, but I do have all these notes about Rey trying to help him, and Lydia also making an appearance. Speaking of appearances, Raiden was all over the streets hanging up flyers for his new breakfast place. Finally, it was something of a mango theme at Caritas, though sadly, Tino was not a man gone. Summer texted, while Stark was glad Anakin had taken the week off, and Rey was asked for 'jello life choice opinions'.

*muffled explosions*

Outside the station, not outside the booth.

Pixie Dust; Thursday [07/03].

"No Boc today?"

Luma frowned a little when she came in to work that day; she was used to catching the little demi-human in the morning, before he scampered off to his Breakfast class, but since they were between classes, she was sort of looking forward to getting to spend a little more time with him. Yes, sure, she teased him an awful lot because he was just so skittish and frightened of nearly everything, but she liked him, and they could talk about embroidery and sewing and things like that and she found where he was from, based on what he'd shared with her, fascinating. And it was just nice, really, to have someone so clearly not entirely human, like herself, to just exist with.

So she was disappointed that he'd already apparently gone out, but then the other clerk mentioned that they hadn't actually seen him all week. When the concern deepened on her face, though, they reassured her that he'd probably just turned into a tree in the woods again.

Apparently, that was a thing he just did sometimes??

But Luma was still suspicious and worried, so she supposed she was going to be spending some time later to see if she could sniff out a Boc-scented tree. Would he smell different? She supposed she'd find out, but, as it were, even if she did work well enough while she was there today, she was distracted most of the time.

Pixie Dust is open!

Stark Tower Writ Small - Birthday Bash - Thursday Evening

The ballroom was all done up in appropriately red, white, and blue bunting. Because bunting felt very Steve if you asked Tony. And Tony was the one picking the decorations for this one. Sorry, Steve.

There were a few fireworks themed chandeliers set up in the center of the room to drive home the celebration as well. And a wide selection of foods that Steve liked most. So all the foods. It was all the foods, but straight-forward stuff (burger bar, taco bar, hot dog bar, ice cream sundae bar with a chocolate fountain (because who didn't want a chocolate fountain on their birthday?)), and not appetizer portions. And pie! Either because Steve liked pie or because Tony thought it was hilarious.

Or both.

And after all of that, there would be a birthday cake with a truly obnoxious number of candles and a 'fireworks' show that was visible from the ballroom windows if you didn't want to brave a trip to the roof. It was actually a drone show because Tony was Tony. And the noise would be something else if they did actual fireworks.

After the last couple of weeks, Liz had been able to get a somewhat decent amount of sleep. She was still a bit tired but was feeling a lot better as she came downstairs to try and get some work done after not getting as much finished over the last couple of weeks. Since she had to work on setting up spreadsheets and reports for the month and answer a few emails, she was managing to stay focused and quite busy for that morning.

"What?" she said. "We had a lot of mango at the store this week! You think I'm happy about that? I don't even like mango all that much!"

And now Tino was really looking at her like she was crazy.

Streets of Fandom, Wednesday Morning

The final touches were being put on the property at 79 Godiva Street and the kitchen was being stocked, so there was nothing left to do now but announce it.

With fliers, as was traditional, which was why Raiden could be found around town on Wednesday morning putting those fliers up, and occasionally pausing to dither over whether he'd put them at an appropriate eye level for someone who wasn't approximately the size of a commercial fridge.

GRAND OPENING!!!
Join us Sunday, July 6 to celebrate the opening of

Serving breakfast & brunch!
Bottomless brunch cocktails!
Featuring Will It Waffle? Wednesdays!

He should have brought Gray along to provide a more appropriate eye level gauge. Some of these might be too low. Some were definitely too high. But Raiden was out here doin' his best.

Good morning, everyone, it's Captain Steve Rogers a few days early. Stark--the other Stark--was unavailable today.

Since it's a break week, we're pretty quiet on the island and I can assure you that the park is safe to walk through today. We didn't have classes yesterday, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at paintball next week!

In town, Liliana was at the diner for her weekly--

*chittering*

--I am not calling it a "booty call." Her lunch date with Ignis. Stark asked Gladio at the gym for hobby ideas--Tino at Caritas' new hobby is apparently blending things--and gardening is always a good choice too. Pam was helping her plants get through the heat wave. Jaina was in the Perk drinking coffee and reading and both of those would also be hobbies, though in my household drinking coffee is more of a personality trait than a hobby.

Party planning could also be a hobby, and so I hope you all can make it to my party tomorrow. Tony's really gone to a lot of effort for it. Have a great day!

Lucifer's Condo, LA, Wednesday

For all that Octavia, Duke and Lucifer were in Los Angeles under a looming sense of foreboding like time was about to run out, there also seemed to be nothing but time. Octavia was doing her best to adjust, to build new routines away from the island. Going back to the ship to take care of her plants, finding hiking trails she liked (whenever the weather didn't feel like it was out to kill her), trying to -- just trying to stay busy. Keep active.

But some days the body felt like it needed to rest. And sometimes Octavia even gave into that instead of pushing forward. Today was one of those, so she was reading a book in Lucifer's living room, her back against the floor and her feet up on the couch.

Well, she was pretending to read, anyway.

See, there were downsides to letting herself be still - like how much louder it made all kinds of thoughts she'd been ignoring and repressing and holding back. Thoughts about things like Heaven, and Hell, and how it was July 2nd again and she didn't even know if Bellamy was alive like her or dead like their mother.

(Where was their mother?)

There was a certain kind of loneliness that didn't touch her often, but when it did, it hurt.

But at least she was holding her book the correct way up?
