Eidelon City, The Water Planet

While the others had searched for Stark, and found him, Sikozu had managed to make a transport pod watertight so they might all get to the surface. They landed on the surface, and D'Argo, Stark, Crichton, Aeryn, Sikozu, Scorpius, Chiana, Rygel, and Jothee headed for the Eidelon's city. Aerial combatants flew over head, firing, and Stark stopped, a pained expression on his face.

"We're too late," Stark said quietly.

D'Argo grabbed his shoulder roughly and dragged him away. "We don't know that yet, come on!"

"Where are the Eidelons?" Chiana asked.

"The Scarran term is 'nullified'" Scorpius snapped.

Jothee attempted to contact the Luxan commandos only to find two of them rapelling down the rock wall to one side of him. The report they gave was grim. Scarrans everywhere, with isolated Peacekeeper resistance pockets being systematically 'neutralized.'

"What about the Eidelons?" Crichton asked.

"Slaughtered," was the Luxan's reply. "Even in surrender. The rest of our men are on the other side of the city, searching for survivors."

"We have to get Stark to them," Crichton said. Aeryn nodded, walking over to the quietly distraught Banik and pushing him back towards the group with one hand.

Scorpius contacted Captain Braca over his comms and was rewarded with the news that his command was sheltering a group of Eidelons in the temple.

They walked carefully across the city towards the great temple. Signs of devastation were everywhere; fires, rubble, bodies. Attuned to death as he was, Stark had enough to do just keeping walking. The pained expression on his face worsened with every body they passed. Finding Grunschlk, of all possible people, still alive did nothing to improve his mood or anyone else's. The Scarrans couldn't have known what planet to follow them to without someone telling them where to go, and Grunschlk had been the obvious choice to have done so. But reluctantly taking him at his word that someone else was the Scarran spy, the group brought him along to the Eidelon temple.

After they received an update on the situation, and a grim one it was, from Braca inside the temple, Crichton turned to Stark.

"Stark, you're the reason we came."

"Is Muoma here?" Stark asked Braca. She was the best choice, he thought, from the Eidelons he knew of, to try and pass what Yondalao had left inside him to. Braca confirmed Muoma's presence and pointed Stark in the right direction as the others discussed fortifications and makeshift shock grenades to fend off the Scarran force quickly approaching the temple.

And then, naturally, Crichton and Aeryn's child decided now would be a good time to be born.

[Almost there, really. Next installment to follow shortly. I guess all I needed was a plot to send Stark back to the island for to finally finish dragging through the end of canon.]
